MyGuy Tips: 5/12/2014 The Spurs will Net it up tonight.

How is MyGuy going for everyone? After an amazing First Round, this round has been a little lackluster (sans the Clippers/Warriors series). Tonight, The Heat and Nets square off early and the Spurs will probably eliminate the Blazers tonight. Which sucks because 1) that means less games and less MyGuy coming up and B) The Blazers are fun to root for.

I've moved game previews up and the Tips section has moved to the bottom.

*** Apparently, if you check into the game and start MyGuy you are eligible for the +50 bonus PER GAME. (That's the rumor I'm hearing) Anyway, you can be like me, check in for a couple minutes, choose your MyGuy and check into a higher point show. You can always go back to MyGuy through the carousal or under "My Shows."

You can follow me at @HuuMyGuy where I try to tweet extra tips during the games and I answer questions as well. Or if you want to laugh @huutransuperman...like 70% of what I tweet is awesome.

Heat VS Nets 8 ET on TNT
Heat
James (Points A, Rebounds B, Assists B, Blocks B-, Steals B-, Free Throw % B, Streak A-)
Bosh (Pts B, Rebs B+, Blks B, FT% B, Streak B)
Wade (Pts B-, Rebs C, Asts B-. FT% B-, Streak B-)
Nets
Johnson (Pts B+, Rebs B-, Asts B, FT% A-, Streak B)
Pierce (Pts C+, Rebs C+, Asts C, FT% B)
Williams (Pts B-, Rebs C, Asts B+, FT% B)
Garnett (Pts C-, Rebs B+, Blks B)

James. James. James. There really is no need to get off Lebron James unless he's on the bench. Last game he sat for about 5 minutes in the 2nd quarter. I went to Bosh in the 2nd, and he quickly got 130....before doing nothing else. This game, to me, seems like it will be a Heat blowout, so James maybe sits the last couple minutes of the game. James is almost guaranteed to get you at least +50 each quarter.

My Pick: Lebron James all 4 quarters. Chris Bosh when James is sitting.  Mirza Teletovic (Nets)  if the Heat are in blowout mode.

Blocks: Chris Andersen will get blocks and rebounds if you're desperate. Doesn't score much and is not great at the FT line.

Protect Your Points Player (When you hit 150 in a quarter): Brook Lopez (Nets)

Spurs Vs Blazers 10:30 ET TNT
Spurs
Duncan (Pts A-, Rebs A-, Blks A-, FT% C, Streak B)
Parker (Pts A-, Asts A-, Stls B-, FT% B, Streak B-)
Leonard (Pts B-, Rebs B, Asts C, Steals B, FT% B, Streak B-)
Blazers
Aldridge (Pts A-, Rebs B, Blks C+, FT% B, Streak B)
Lillard (Pts B, Asts B+, Stls B, FT% A-, Streak B)
Batum (Pts B+, Rebs B-, Asts C+, FT% A-, Streak B)

Poor poor Blazers. They are just outmatched in this series. Tony Parker is tearing them up with ease, and the Blazers have no one to defend him. It's a shame, I'd love to see the Blazers win a couple of these, but I fear they get blown out again. I've been taking Duncan since game 1, but Parker has shown me that even though he won't get blocks, he's been a monster. The problem is each game the Superstars have been able to sit in the fourth, no free throws late to make up some points. And Parker and Duncan will take rests periodically. No rhyme or reason so you'll have to keep up with the game. When they sit,  I like Leonard for the Spurs or the Blazers duo of Aldridge or Lillard (Blazers use their starters way more). So this game you might have to keep an eye on to get the switches in.

My Pick: Parker. When Parker's benched: Duncan, Aldridge (Blazers), Leonard, Lillard (Blazers) in that order.

Blocks: Looking for just rebounds and blocks? Robin Lopez (Blazers) does that pretty well. He also has a decent FT%. Duncan does a little worse at FTs but scores more.

PYP Player: Myck Kabongo (Spurs)

Tips:
Viggle gets a true "live" feed. We get a delayed feed of about 10-15 seconds. So unlike NFL and NCAA, there is no lag, do not try switching between plays, you will almost always be late.

At the end of the quarter (especially half time) just pick your next player. When the quarter starts, you'll already have someone.

Big guys (size wise) tend to do better. They handle the ball less (less turnovers) they take close range higher percentage shots (less missed shots to break a streak) and they tend to grab more rebounds and blocks.

Superstars are the key to this game. Superstars tend to get hot (build a streak), offensive plays run through them (more opportunities to score or get assists) and they tend to take more foul shots (2 made FTs is 2 more added to a streak)

Ends of quarters generally have the free throws. It's when enough fouls have been called to be in the penalty. If you see a guy get fouled on a shot attempt or after 5 fouls in a quarter they'll go to the line and you can switch.

In close games, superstars will stay in until the end. In super close games (within 3 points) there tends to be more fouls near the end. The last 2 minutes can be filled with lots of free throw attempts. In blowout games, they tend to send bench players in the last 3 minutes, and there are rarely foul shots. Knowing what bench players might put up shots so they can get some glory stats is good too.

Watching games will help you because you can see who is on the bench and not. However, you can pick and choose just one guy each quarter and you may be able to do well, Superstars tend to get hot and can rack up 150 points easy with 4 or 5 plays.

***THERE IS A GLITCH IN THE MATRIX! After some quarters (sometimes midway through a quarter) Viggle MyGuy adds the previous points from another quarter on your total, so your score looks  high like 250-400 points. These are fake points, and won't actually get you +150. If the fake score really bugs you, the easiest way to find the real score is to back out of MyGuy and head back in. (On iPad i think this means closing the app and reopening it) This is risky because, as we all know, Viggle has problems, if you back out, you may not be able to get back in. Especially if a game is late in the 4th; games tend to go over the allotted time, if this happens the banner for MyGuy may be gone and you won't be able to get back in. If you have 300 points and only 3 or 4 minutes has passed in he quarter, you most likely have fake points)

***PROTECTING YOUR POINTS. Once you hit 150 points, you are done. No need to try and get 300 more, unless you want bragging rights. If you are sitting on your points at exactly 150, it's good to pick a player that has no chance of getting in. The player will gain no points for you, but that player also won't turn the ball over (-20) or miss a free throw (-10) to make your beautiful 150 points (+250 MG pts) turn into a frustrating 140 (+100 MG pts). I'm going to start naming a Protect Your Points (PYP) player under the teams as well. As soon as you cross the threshold you can protect your points. (Disclaimer, be careful about those fake points. you do not want to put a PYP player in when your display shows 300 fake points and all you really have is 60.)
