MyGuy Miyagi: Han Solo and Ibaka!!! 5/27/2014

If you are trying out MyGuy for the first time, we have some Guidelines and Tips to help you out.

Follow along on twitter: @HuuMyGuy. When I can I tweet out who I start with each quarter, when I make changes and when the stars are on the bench. We also have this chat room set up. Here we just chat about the game, switch to players shooting free throws and I can answer questions live, whether about strategy or questions about the game in general. I recommend popping in before hand to see if you can get in. Most people who logged in through twitter were able to get in just fine. I also think you can use Facebook to log in. I will be available for the first half tonight, second half... is a little sketchy.

This is a real busy week for me. I have two softball games at 8 Mountain Time, which means I will only get to see the first half of the games. A coworker asked me to cover her shift tomorrow night so I can't follow the game very closely at all. So... here is my theoretical schedule this week:
Tuesday 5/27: First quarter/part of second quarter only
Wednesday 5/28: Work, spot check on the game
Thursday 5/29: First half only
Friday 5/30: (If Miami wins on Wednesday, there will be no game)
Saturday 5/31: I should be available

Thunder Vs Spurs 9 ET TNT

Spurs
Duncan (Pts A-, Rebs A-, Blks A-, FT% C, Streak B)
Parker (Pts A-, Asts A-, Stls B-, FT% B, Streak B-)
Leonard (Pts B-, Rebs B, Asts C, Steals B, FT% B, Streak B-)
Thunder
Durant (Points A++, Rebounds B, Assists B, Free throws A, Streak A-)
Westbrook (Pts B+, Rebs B+, Asts B+, FT % B, Streak B)

PYP: Protect Your Points Player (When you hit 150 in a quarter): Kabongo (Spurs) What is the PYP Player?

Ibaka was a difference maker. For sure! He had an injury they thought would take a minimum of a month, but here we were, 6 days later and Ibaka helped change the game. He had only 15 points, 7 rebs and 4 blocks. But he got them at good times in the quarters. He also looked like he was winded early, so his conditioning is a little off from the rest.

My Pick- Durant.....and Duncan
Deja Durant anybody? Nothing has changed for me. Durant is still the best player on the court. Durant is still only 25 and will play a majority of the game (unless it is a blowout), AND if the Thunder want to win, Durant has to play well. For those who just want to pick and play, Durant will be the most consistent. The Thunder are at home and have a chance to win this one. Durant USUALLY sits for about 5 minutes in the 2nd quarter.

Other 1st Tier guys- (Guys I would switch for Durant if Durant was a bit off)

  • Duncan: Ibaka is back and this makes a huge difference. Duncan was spectacular in game 1, and got anything he wanted. Game 2 he slowed down but still got 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. In Game 3, his scoring was okay, he was a little less efficient and only grabbed 8 rebounds and 1 block. Ibake defends Duncan well. Duncan will be better when Ibaka is on the bench though.
  • Parker: ....was AWFUL last game. I like superstars because they rarely tend to have two awful games in a row. If you've been riding high with Parker, I think he'll be fine. I just like Durant and Duncan better in this series.
  • Westbrook: Hasn't been amazing, but he has his streaks. He had an awful game 2 and was on his way to an awful game 3, until about three minutes left in the 2nd quarter (Durant on the bench) and Westbrook finds his groove....when he gets hot, it's point city....but when he's cold. Frigid beast.
Tier 2 guys- (I would hesitate switching a superstar out for them, but if they were hot)
  • Ibaka: What injury? He looks to be back at full strength. I don't think he can duplicate it again, but 4 blocks again is definitely in his arsenal. It's hard to judge when he's going to block a shot though.
  • Ginobili: He was hot last game, but he comes off the bench, doesn't play a lot of minutes, and doesn't alway have a streak of good games though.
  • Leonard: A very intriguing tier 2 guy for me. He gets points, shoots a high percentage (doesn't miss as much as the average NBA star), he also gets assists, rebounds, blocks and steals. He also rarely turns over the ball. He's my favorite tier 2 guy if he gets rolling. Problem is consistency. Game 5 vs Portland. 22 pts, Game 1 vs Thunder 16 pts, Game 2 Thunder 4 pts, Game 3 Thunder 10 pts. If he doesn't play well, the Spurs can still play well without him contributing too many stats.

The safe pick is Durant, Parker and Leonard interest me as guys who can come back. Duncan has been the model of consistency for 15 years. It's interesting, and this game can change just like that.

My Rank
1- Durant (Safest pick)
2- Parker (Bounce back game)
3- Duncan (Safe and conservative game)
4- Leonard (I like his game, I think he will step up. Too scared to put him above Duncan though)
5- Westbrook (He'll have a couple good quarters, he'll have a quarter that can absolutely be awful.)
