NFL Vigoal/MyGuy Week 4

Here is the Sunday/Monday prediction report. Most scores are based off Bleacher Report and Las Vegas projections and I list the top players QB (for passing questions) RB (for rushing questions) and WR (for receiving questions). If I feel strongly about a player, I will bold them.
  • I answer "NO" to the 2-pt conversion and missed FG question. These are events that are least likely to happen.
  • Most times I answer "NO" to the interception question even though this is an event that is more 50-50.
  • I will most likely choose that a team will have more PASSING YARDS because passing plays are usually longer than rushing plays.

MONDAY NIGHT
Kansas City vs New England

Bleacher Report: KC 21 NE 20
Vegas: NE 27 KC 24
Me: Chiefs 30 Patriots 17

Chiefs:
QB: Alex Smith
RB: Jamaal Charles, Kniles Davis
WR: Dwayne Bowe, Donnie Avery
Patriots:
QB: Tom Brady
RB: Steven Ridley, Shane Vereen
WR: Brandon Lloyd, Danny Amendola

-- I went totally off the rails with this call. Just going with my gut. The Chiefs are at home and I think Jamaal Charles will be running....even though he's kind of hurt. I would not trust any receiver for either team. I think both teams will have more passing yards, more rushing attempts. If you have to choose a receiver, go Avery, Lloyd, Amendola, then Bowe. Again, gut call says Charles, Vereen, Ridley. I'm going against all the stats and going w/ my heart.

San Diego vs Jacksonville

BR: Chargers 35 Jaguars 17
Vegas: Chargers 27 Jaguars 14
Me: Chargers 35 Jaguars 6

Chargers
QB: Philip Rivers
RB: Donald Brown
WR: Keenen Allen, Malcom Floyd
Jaguars
QB: Blake Bortles
RB: Toby Gerhart
WR: Allen Hurns, Allen Robinson
-- The Jaguars are...incredibly bad. Awful. I would stick with ALL the Chargers to start off with. Chargers will rush more but get more pass yards.

San Francisco 49ers vs Philadelphia Eagles

BR: Eagles 34 49ers 31
Vegas: 49ers 27 Eagles 21
Me: Eagles 27 49ers 24

49ers
QB: Colin Kaepernick
RB: Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde
WR: Micheal Crabtree, Anquan Boldon, Stevie Johnson
Eagles:
QB Nick Foles
RB: Lesean McCoy
WR: Jeremy Maclin, Jordin Matthews
-- I have no idea who is going to win this game. So.... flip a coin haha. Both teams rush and pass evenly. I would say they get more pass yards and rush more than pass.

Atlanta vs Minnesota

BR: Falcons 27 Vikings 17
Vegas: Falcons 26 Viking 23
Me: Falcons 24 Vikings 16

Falcons
QB: Matt Ryan
RB: Steven Jackson
WR: Julio Jones, Roddy White
Vikings
QB: Teddy Bridgewater
RB: Matt Asiata
WR: Cordelle Patterson, Greg Jennings.

-- Can the Falcons score 56 again?....maybe not. Um...both teams will want to rush more, but will get more passing yards.

Sunday Night Game
New Orleans vs Dallas

BR: Saints 35 Cowboys 31
Vegas: Saints 29 Cowboys 26
ME: Cowboys 37 Saints 31

Saints
QB: Drew Brees
RB: Khiry Robinson, Pierre Thomas
WR: Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks
Cowboys
QB: Tony Romo
RB: Demarco Murray
WR: Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams

-- I am a Cowboys fan, so maybe this is wishful thinking. I think all the offense will be good. Cowboys rush more, Saints pass more, but I think they will both have to pass and they will both get more passing yards.

Miami vs Oakland (IN LONDON)

Bleacher Report: Miami 20 Oakland 17
Vegas: Miami 21 Oakland 17
Me: Miami 17 Oakland 14

Dolphins
QB: Ryan Tannehill
RB: Lamar Miller
WR: Mike Wallace, Rishard Matthews
Raiders
QB: Derek Carr
RB: Maurice Jones Drew (possibly injured), Darren McFadden
WR: James Jones
-- This game is played in rainy London. I suspect if it's bad weather they will rush more. Both QBs are not that good regardless. Lamar Miller ran for over 100 yards last week so he'll probably asked to do more of that. If Maurice Jones Drew is still injured, Darren McFadden will run instead. I like Mike Wallce just a tad better than James Jones to catch a TD early.

Green Bay vs Chicago

BR: Green Bay Packers 20 Chicago Bears 20
Vegas: Packers 27 Bears 24
Me: Packers 30 Bears 27

Packers
QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Eddie Lacy
WR: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Jarrett Boykin
Bears
QB: Jay Cutler
RB: Matt Forte
WR: Brandon Marshall (possibly injured), Alshon Jeffrey

-- Should be a good fun division rivalry game. Rodgers is better than Cutler. Forte is slightly better than Lacy. For receiving yards? I rank them as Nelson, Jeffrey, Marshall, Cobb. For receiving TDs? Marshall, Cobb, Nelson, Jeffrey. Both teams will probably throw more than run.

Houston vs Buffalo

BR: Buffalo Bills 17 Houston Texans 10
Vegas: Texans 24 Bills 21
Me: Texans 21 Bills 17

Texans
QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick
RB: Arian Foster (possibly injured), Alfred Blue
WR: Andre Johnson, Deandre Hopkins
Bills
QB: EJ Emmanuel
RB: CJ Spiller, Fred Jackson
WR: Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods
-- One of those games where I think both teams will RUSH for more yards than pass. QBs are mediocre and the RBs are really good. Foster is hurt so keep an eye on that injury. If Foster is hurt, I think the Bills win, if not Texans win.

Indianapolis vs Tennessee

BR: Indianapolis Colts 28 Tennessee Titans 14
Vegas: Colts 24 Titans 17
Me: Colts 27 Titans 13

Colts
QB: Andrew Luck
RB: Ahmad Bradshaw, Trent Richardson
WR: TY Hilton, Reggie Wayne, Hakeem Nicks
Titans
QB: Jake Locker (possibly injured), Charlie Whitehurst
RB: Shone Green, Dexter McCluster, Bishop Sankey
WR: Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter

-- I don't feel comfortable with any Titan because they're not as good as the Colts. But it's the NFL so you just never know. Any Given Sunday, yada yada yada, I mentioned the bisque.

Baltimore vs Carolina

BR: Carolina Panthers 24 Baltimore Ravens 21
Vegas: Baltimore 21 Carolina 17
ME: Panthers 20 Ravens 16

Panthers
QB: Cam Newton
RB: DeAngelo Williams
WR: Kelvin Benjamin
Ravens
QB: Joe Flacco
RB: Bernard Pierce (possibly injured), Justin Forsett
WR: Steve Smith, Torrie Smith
-- This game will probably be boring...except for one thing. STEVE SMITH faces his former team, and he's probably mad. I think Steve will score a touchdown, or have a good game with a lot of yards. After that, it's all a coin flip.

Detroit vs New York Jets

BR: Detroit Lions 28 NY Jets 17
Vegas: Detroit 27 NY 24
Me: Lions 24 Jets 20

Lions
QB: Matthew Stafford
RB: Reggie Bush, Joquie Bell
WR: Calvin Johnson (possibly injured), Golden Tate
Jets
QB: Geno Smith
RB: Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson
WR: Eric Decker (possibly injured), Jeremy Kerley
-- Don't expect too much rushing from the Lions. The Jets have a good run defense. Calvin is hurt, I think he plays, and if he does, he should be in for a big day.

Pittsburgh vs Tamp Bay

BR: Pittsburgh Steelers 28 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20
Vegas: Pittsburgh 24 Tampa Bay 17
Me: Steelers 27 Tampa Bay 16

Steelers
QB: Ben Roeslithsberger
RB: Leveon Bell
WR: Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton
Buccaneers
QB: Mike Glennon
RB: Doug Martin, Bobby Rainey
WR: Vincent Jackson, Mike James
-- The Bucs have been really bad this year. The Steelers rush more than they pass. The Bucs should be able to run more, but as aforementioned, they have been bad so who knows really.

Giants vs Redskins
Bleacher Report: Redskins 23, Giants 13
Vegas: Redskins 20, Giants 17

Washington Redskins
QB: Kirk Cousins (Robert Griffin III is injured and out)
RB: Alfred Morris
WR: Pierre Garcon, Desean Jackson

NY Giants:
QB: Eli Manning
RB: Rashad Jennings
WR: Victor Cruz, Reuben Randle

-- Both teams are 1-2. Defenses aren't very good. This could be a good running day for both running backs. I like RASHAD JENNINGS just slightly better than ALFRED MORRIS. Basically meaning in the first quarter I'll go Jennings, but after that all bets are off. Two Trends for Thursday night NFL. WRs and QBs are generally not as good, but the defenses are so bad, one of these guys might break loose. The Giants are on the road. and in the first three Thursday games, the road team has lost by AT LEAST 20 points. I'll stick with the rushers, if I have to choose a WR I'll go Garcon, Cruz, Jackson in that order.

NFL ViGoal/MyGuy Week 3

MONDAY NIGHT GAME
Bears Vs Jets

Yahoo: Bears 24 Jets 23
Vegas: Jets to win by 3. Jets 20 Bears 17
Me: Jets 23 Bears 19

Chicago Bears
QB: Jay Cutler
RB: Matt Forte
WR: Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey
NY Jets
QB: Geno Smith, Michael Vick
RB: Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson
WR: Eric Decker
-- The Bears got a good come from behind victory last week. Both teams are subpar, but the Bears have better offensive weapons. Alshon Jeffrey and Eric Decker are both sporting injuries so they may not be healthy all game. Jets have a good run defense so the Bears might be forced to pass more more. Jets are primarily a rushing team.

49ers vs Cardinals
Bleacher Report: 49ers 22 Cardinals 21
Vegas: 49ers 24 Cardinals 21
Me: 49ers 27 Cardinals 10

49ers
QB: Colin Kaepernick
RB: Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde
WR: Micheal Crabtree, Anquan Boldin
Arizona Cardinals
QB: Drew Stanton
RB: Andre Ellington
WR: Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd

-- Cardinals are missing their QB. 49ers will have production from their stars, who knows where it will come from with Arizona. Both teams rush a little more than pass. Ellington and Gore are the most talented RBs.

Broncos vs Seahawks
BR: Seahawks 26 Broncos 24
Vegas: Seahawks 28 Broncos 24
Me: Seahawks 24 Broncos 21

Denver Broncos:
QB: Peyton Manning
RB: Montee Ball
WR: Demaryius Thomas, Emmanual Sanders, Wes Welker
Seattle Seahawks
QB: Russel Wilson
RB: Marshan Lynch
WR: Percy Harvin

-- Superbowl Rematch. Seahawks defense still looks good, but the Denver offense also looks good. Broncos throw a little more than run. Seahawks are more of a rushing team.

Chiefs vs Dolphins
BR: Dolphins 24 Chiefs 14
Vegas: Dolphins 21 Chiefs 17
Me: Chiefs 17 Dolphins 10

KC Chiefs
QB: Alex Smith
RB: Knile Davis
WR: Dwayne Bowe
Miami Dolphins
QB: Ryan Tannehill
RB: Lamar Miller
WR: Mike Wallace

-- Jamaal Charles and Knowshon Moreno are both hurt. Both teams will probably rush more than pass.
Redskins vs Eagles
Bleacher Report: Eagles 31 Redskins 21
Vegas: Eagles 27 Redskins 23
Philadelphia Eagles
QB: Nick Foles
RB: Lesean Mccoy, Darrin Sproles
WR: Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper
Washington Redskins
QB: Kirk Cousins
RB: Alfred Morris
WR: Desean Jackson, Pierre Garcon
-- Wash. lost their QB, Robert Griffin. Cousins should be good because some people think he is better than RG3. But only time will tell if he clicks with the offense. Redskins will want to run the ball. This is a "revenge" game for Desean Jackson because he used to play for the Eagles. Foles should be good for Philly as will Lesean Mccoy.

Chargers vs Bills
Bleacher Report: Chargers 24 Bills 20
Vegas: Chargers 24 Bills 21
San Diego Chargers:
QB: Philip Rivers
RB: Donald Brown, Danny Woodhead
WR: Keenen Allen, Malcom Floyd
Buffalo Bills
QB: EJ Emanual
RB: CJ Spiller, Fred Jackson
WR: Sammy Watkins
-- San Diego should be better, but they are traveling cross country. Teams that do that don't tend to play well. Chargers are more pass heavy, Bills rush heavy.

Cowboys vs Rams
BR: Cowboys 22 Rams 17
Vegas: Cowboys 23 Rams 21

Dallas Cowboys
QB: Tony Romo
RB: Demarcco Murray
WR: Dez Bryant
St. Louis Rams
QB: Austin Davis
RB: Zac Stacy
WR: Brian Quick
-- The Cowboys are a slight favorite to win. All the Cowboys players (Romo, Murray, Bryant) should be better bets than the Rams players unless the Rams hold down the Cowboys the whole game. Cowboys are 60% rushing 40% passing.

Packers vs Lions
BR: Packers 23 Lions 21
Vegas: Lions 27 Packers 24

Green Bay Packers:
QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Eddy Lacy
WR: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb
Detroit Lions
QB: Matthew Stafford
RB: Reggie Bush, Joquie Bell
WR: Calvin Johnson
-- Watch for Calvin Johnson to have a HUGE game. Cobb is more likely to get the TD and Nelson more yards. Both teams are passing teams.

Texans vs Giants
BR: Texans 24 Giants 20
Vegas: Giants 21 Texans 20

Houston Texans:
QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick
RB: Alfred Blue (ARIAN FOSTER INJURED, WILL NOT PLAY)
WR: Andre Johnson, Deandre Hopkins
NY Giants
QB: Eli Manning
RB: Rashad Jennings
WR: Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle

--Arian Foster is not playing today, so now everyone thinks the Giants will win. I still have faith in the Texans but it's a lot closer now. Look for Alfred Blue to get a lot of rushes. Eli is better than Fitzpatrick. I like Andre Johnson and Rashad Jennings too.

Vikings vs Saints
BR: Saints 30 Vikings 17
Vegas: Saints 31 Vikings 20

NO Saints
QB: Drew Brees
RB: Khiry Robinson, Pierre Thomas
WR: Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks
Minnesota Viings
QB: Matt Cassel
RB: Matt Asiata
WR: Cordelle Patterson, Greg Jennings

-- Saints are at home and are VERY good when they play at home. Saints are a big passing team. Later in the game if they get up by more than two touchdowns they'll rush the ball more. I like Cooks a little bit better than Colston.

Titans vs Bengals
BR: Bengals 22 Titans 17
Vegas: Bengals 24 Titans 17

Cincinnati Bengals
QB: Andy Dalton
RB: Giovani Bernard
WR: AJ Green
Tennessee Titans
QB: Jake Locker
RB: Shone Greene
WR: Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter

-- AJ Green got hurt last week, but he's playing this week and should be gooooood. Giovani Bernard is much better than Shon Greene. I feel like the Bengals will pass slightly more than rush.

Colts vs Jaguars
BR: Colts 27 Jaguars 10
Vegas: Colts 24 Jaguars 17
Me: Colts 31 Jaguars 13

Indianapolis Colts
QB: Andrew Luck
RB: Ahmad Bradshaw, Trent Richardson
WR: Reggie Wayne, TY Hilton
Jacksonville Jaguars
QB: Chad Henne
RB: Toby Gerhart
WR: Cecil Shorts, Alan Hurns

-- Jacksonville looks awful. Stick with the Colts players. Colts are more of a passing team, if they get up by a lot, they'll rush more later in the game.

Raiders vs Patriots
BR: Patriots 28 Raiders 9
Vegas: Patriots 30 Raiders 14
Me: Patriots 31 Raiders 10

New England Patriots
QB: Tom Brady
RB: Steven Ridley, Shane Vereen
WR: Julian Edelman, Aaron Dobson
Oakland Raiders
QB: Derek Carr
RB: Darren McFadden
WR: James Jones

-- Use the Patriots, Raiders are bad. Patriots might be 50/50 rush/pass this game.

Ravens vs Browns
BR: Ravens 26 Browns 17
Vegas: Ravens 23 Browns 21
Me: Browns 21 Ravens 20

Baltimore Ravens
QB: Joe Flacco
RB: Bernard Pierce
WR: Steve Smith, Torrey Smith
Cleveland Browns
QB: Brian Hoyer
RB: Terrance West
WR: Andrew Hawkins

-- I like Steve Smith and Terrance West in this game. Both teams rush the ball slightly more than passing.

Bleacher Report thinks Falcons beats the Bucs 24-13
Vegas thinks it will be the Falcons over the Bucs 24-17 (They have the Falcons favored by 6.5 points w/ an over/under of 45.)

I am going to say..... Falcons 30 Bucs 14.
QB: Atl-Matt Ryan, TB- Josh McCown
RB: Atl- Steven Jackson TB- Bobby Rainey
WR: Atl- Julio Jones TB- Vincent Jackson, Mike James

Falcons are usually good at home. Matt Ryan had a bad game last week....he might step it up because of his poor performance in his last game and because he plays better at home. Doug Martin is injured so the Tampa Bay running back is Bobby Rainey. He had a good game last week and should continue to be good because Atlanta's defense is not that great. Julio Jones and Vincent Jackson are the most likely candidates to score. Julio Jones is definitely the best receiver on the field.

The Chaos Tournament

A tournament for the non-Daniels and non-Greiners of the world. A tournament that will be 100x more interesting because we will be playing opponents of similar skill level. A tournament of pure chaos.

ROAD 2 THE CHAMPIONSHIP
I originally had written a nice long passage....then my browser crashed, so I will no longer be doing that.
Congrats to our champion "Stonewall" MIKAYLA; after beating Caleb and then getting knocked down to the elimination bracket by Brandon she ripped through the competition in do-or-die matches, eliminating Ben, Huu, Knoder, Dan and Grant (or as she describes them, the scum beneath her shoes) on her way to the final match. There she met Sean who got to the championship with both losses in tact. No matter to Mikayla, she wiped Sean in four straight. Mikayla was not happy with #7 rank and now we know why. Mikayla looks to defend her title, will a new challenger arise? Or will Mikayla successfully hold onto the title for another run?

ROUND 2 Results 9/17/2014
The third round is set. But what does that mean in the second round?
WINNER'S BRACKET

  • In the first match of the second round, the #1 seed Dan took on the #8 seed Grant. Dan got a majority of the Power Rank votes but that was of little solace as Grant pulls the upset to move to the next round. There is a viper in the bushes because Dan moves to the elimination bracket to face Caleb.
  • Dark horse Melanie (12) took on the #4 seed Jonny Knoder. In their first official sanctioned tournament match, there were tons of back and forth action. In the end, Knoder pulls out the victory. Melanie's run continues against Eric in the elimination bracket. Knoder will face Grant, each having zero losses.
  • Huu would try to back up his #3 seed against #6 Sean in the next match. Huu would get chances to end the games but was ultimately swept by Sean in a mini-upset. The elimination bracket features a do-or-die matchup between Huu and Kyle.
  • In one of the most anticipated matches, #2 Brandon would face #7 Mikayla. These two oppononets know each other's games very well. Long rallies and long matches would ensue, but ultimately Brandon will move on take on Sean and Mikayla moves down to an elimination game with Ben.

Winner's Bracket:
8) Grant -vs- 4) Knoder
6) Sean vs- 2) Brandon
Elimination Bracket Round 1:
11) Eric -vs- 12) Melanie
10) Caleb -vs- 1) Dan
9) Ben -vs- 7) Mikayla
5) Kyle -vs- 3) Huu

ROUND 1 Results 9/16/2014
With an exciting first round done, let's see what happened.

  • The 8-9 matchup was an instant classic. Grant was able to come out victorious over Ben in a 3-set thriller. Ben moved down to the 1-loss bracket and Grant moves on with two lives intact to face the #1 overall seed Dan.
  • In what some would consider an upset, the #12 seed Melanie edged out #5 Kyle. Melanie at the 12-seed just goes to show that she's a wild card and the Power Ranking did not get it right. That's why we played the game. After the match, Melanie said she was just glad that she could shove the ball down Kyle's trash talking throat. Kyle awaits an opponent in the 1-loss bracket and Melanie moves on to face Knoder in the second round. Melanie holds an all-time winning record against Knoder, but this is their first tournament match.
  • Next up was the #6 Sean taking on #11 Eric. Eric was a bit of an unknown coming into this tournament too, but Sean just proved to be too much. Sean takes the match, bumping Eric down to the 1-loss bracket while Sean moves on to face the #3 Huu in the next round. These competitors are pretty evenly matched on paper.
  • Finally, the first match to be played was #7 Mikayla and #10 Caleb. Mikayla was surprised by her low ranking and sought out to show the world that she could go the distance. Caleb put up a good fight, but Mikayla moved on to take on rival #2 Brandon in the next round. Expect a good back and forth match between these two, while Caleb moves down to the 1-loss bracket.
Second round matches in the Winner's Bracket:
  • #8 Grant vs #1 Dan
  • #12 Melanie vs # 4 Knoder
  • #6 Sean vs #3 Huu
  • #7 Mikayla vs #2 Brandon
Chaos on my friends. Chaos on.

The power ranks are in. Each member of the chaos league graded each opponent (and themselves) 1-12. I inputted the numbers into a spreadsheet to rank everyone, like the Olympics, I took out each player's best and worst score and out came our ranks. Some surprising results to say the least:

1) Dan T
2) Brandon
3) Huu
4) Knoder
5) Kyle (by virtue of Paper/Rock/Scissors tie breaker)
6) Sean
7) Mikayla
8) Grant
9) Ben
10) Caleb
11) Eric
12) Melanie

Does your ranking make you mad? Maybe it should. A group of your peers voted for this and maybe it was too low... maybe you should do something about it. Er.....on the ping pong table, not like hire a hit man or something. Maybe you're ranked too high and you have a target on your  back, it's up to you to prove to your opponents you deserve to be on top of the bracket. The Power Rank is a motivational tool.

Double Elimination Tournament:

Our top four seeds get a bye: Dan T, Brandon, Huu and Knoder. They await the winners of (8) Grant & (9) Ben, (5) Kyle & (12) Melanie, (6) Sean & (11) Eric, and (7) Mikayla & (10) Caleb.

These matches should be played at your leisure. I recommend playing three games, best to 21. Double fault on game point. We are not "constricted" by any time frame. If we only play one match a day, that's not a problem.

Yes, there will be a prize/Trophy for the winner.

NFL Vigoal/Myguy? Week 2

Here is the Sunday prediction report. Most scores are based off Las Vegas projections and I list the top players QB (for passing questions) RB (for rushing questions) and WR (for receiving questions). If I feel strongly about a player, I will bold them.

Fantasy Football Tips

Adding/Dropping Players

To pick up a player, you click on "Players" on the top bar. (Between "Matchups" and Research") You can hit the green + sign to the right of the player's name to pick up the player. If the player has a W next to the + sign that means they are on WAIVERS. If it says FA it means the player is a Free Agent. If you pick up a Free Agent the players are on your roster right away.  If you have a full team, you will be asked to subsequently drop a player to pick up the player. Players on Waivers need to wait until the waiver period is over. What is the Waiver period?

WAIVER WIRE

Each week, most players start on the Waiver wire from Sunday (after the first game starts) until early Wednesday morning. This give managers a fair shot to go after the same player. For instance, if Huu Tran was on waivers. and two managers want to pick him up during the waiver period, they would both click the green + sign next to his name. If you have a full team, you will be asked to subsequently drop a player to pick up the player. The manager with the higher waiver priority will get the player on Wednesday. For instance, Manager A has the #1 waiver priority, and Manager B has the #2 priority. Manager A gets the player, and his/her waiver priority moves to the bottom. So Manager B now has the #1 priority and Manager A moves to #10. You can see your Waiver Wire order on the League's main page next to your team name.

NFL Vigoal/Myguy? Week 1 3rd Quarter

I'm not watching all these games. I'm basically just guessing here. Some are more educated than others.

Tennessee vs Kansas City
RB with more total rushing yards: Jamaal Charles
Which WR will have more total yards: (In order of who I think will be good) 1) Nate Washington, 2) Kendall Wright, 3) Travis Kelce
