NFL Vigoal/MyGuy Week 9

Here is the Sunday/Monday prediction report. Most scores are based off Bleacher Report and Las Vegas projections and I list the top players QB (for passing questions) RB (for rushing questions) and WR (for receiving questions). If I feel strongly about a player, I will bold and RED them.

  • I answer "NO" to the 2-pt conversion and missed FG question. These are events that are least likely to happen.
  • Most times I answer "NO" to the interception question even though this is an event that is more 50-50.
  • I will most likely choose that a team will have more PASSING YARDS because passing plays are usually longer than rushing plays.
  • If a player has an asterisk (*) next to their name, they are somewhat injured. So injured that it may affect their ability and they might not play the whole game
  • The number next to the player's names are ranks. 4=Excellent choice 3=Very Good Choice 2=Okay Choice 1=So you're saying there's a chance.

The MyGuy scavenger hunt sweepstakes giveaway...thing

Hello readers!

I wish there was a way I could express my gratitude to all "my fans" of this little blog. I'm consistently getting 800 some odd views a week on my prediction blog (even though, I consistently get the score wrong lol). I wanted a way to thank you all for the support and giving me a chance to write about sports. I have about five $5 gift cards laying around that wouldn't kill me to part with. The problem is.... what kind of sweepstakes should I hold? I brainstormed...with myself and here are some options I came up with.

  • Hold a one-week fantasy football contest. Have everyone pick a fantasy football team and the winner of that week will win a gift card.
  • Hold a little scavenger hunt, place clues in previous blog posts and over twitter and see who can find them all.
  • Do a random drawing to a twitter follower (from either @huumyguy and @not_vig_support)
  • Or a pentathlon of all these ideas (and then some) and reward winners of each competition.
The cards that I have available are:
  • $5 Barnes & Noble
  • $5 Starbucks
  • $5 CVS
  • $5 Amazon
  • $5 Mystery
If you're interested, hit me up on twitter or below in the comments. We will figure out something so I can send you the gift card code before Black Friday!

QB: Austin Davis, Shaun Hill
RB: Zac Stacy, Benjamin Cunningham
WR: Brian Quick, Jared Cook, Tavon Austin
K: Greg Zuerline
Attempts: Rush
Yards: Pass

-- I think this will be a close game. It's Prime Time and it's a division game. If you feel St. Louis is going to win, I wouldn't hate you for it. I think Colin Kaepernick will be good, I even think Austin Davis will be good. I like Frank Gore, hopefully Zac Stacy does well too. I like Brian Quick best, then Vernon then Crabtree. With the 49ers, it could go to any of those WRs though. I like the Kicker Dawson slightly better than Zuerline.

San Diego vs Oakland

BR: San Diego 30 Oakland 7
Vegas: SD 25 Oak 18
Me: SD 27 Oak 24

San Diego Chargers
QB: Philip Rivers
RB: Brandon Oliver
WR: Keenen Allen, Antonio Gates, Malcom Floyd, Eddie Royal
Oakland Raiders
QB: Derek Carr
RB: Darren McFadden, Maurice Jones-Drew
WR: James Jones, Andre Holmes

-- I think this game will be close. I just don't like any of the Raiders players. I like Brandon Oliver too. I think both teams will pass more than rush. More passing yards.

Washington vs Arizona

BR: Arizona 24 Washington 14
Vegas: AZ 24 Wash 21
Me: AZ 31 Wash 27

Arizona Cardinals
QB: Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton
RB: Andre Ellington
WR: Michael Floyd, Larry Fitzgerald,
Washington Redskins
QB: Kirk Cousins
RB: Alfred Morris
WR: Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson, Jordan Reed
-- Yikes...this could be a bad game. Both teams will rush more than pass. Should have more pass yards than rush yards.

Dallas vs Seattle

BR: Dallas 20 Seattle 27
Vegas: Dallas 20 Seattle 28
Me: Dallas 27 Seattle 24

Dallas Cowboys:
QB: Tony Romo
RB: Demarco Murray
WR: Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams, Jason Witten
Seattle Seahawks
QB: Russel Wilson
RB: Marshawn Lynch
WR: Percy Harvin, Doug Baldwin

-- I'm kind of going with my heart, I try to pick one upset a week, and this is it. Maybe it's because I'm a Cowboy fan, who knows. Anyway, both teams will Rush...a LOT. More rush attempts, more passing yards for each team.

SUNDAY NIGHT GAME
NY Giants vs Philadelphia

BR: NYG 28 Philadelphia 27
Vegas: NYG 24 Philly 26
Me: Philly 33 NYG 30

NY Giants
QB: Eli Manning
RB: Andre Williams, Rashad Jennings (Is out, don't pick him)
WR: Victor Cruz, Larry Donnel, Rueben Randle, O'Dell Beckham

Philadelphia Eagles
QB: Nick Foles
RB: Lesean McCoy, Darrin Sproles
WR: Jeremy Maclin, Zach Ertz, Jordan Matthews
-- I think a lot of scoring here. Both teams will rush more, but more passing yards.

Chicago vs Atlanta

Bleacher Report: Atlanta 31 Chicago 27
Vegas: Atlanta 29 Chicago 26
Me: Atlanta 31 Chicago 24

Chicago Bears
QB: Jay Cutler
RB: Matt Forte
WR: Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey
Atlanta Falcons
QB: Matt Ryan
RB: Steven Jackson, Antoine Smith
WR: Julio Jones, Roddy White
-- Both defenses are just okay. Matt Forte should have a really good game. Both teams pass and rush evenly (attempts). I would choose pass attempts and passing yards. I like Ryan better than Cutler. WRs: Julio, Marshall, Jeffrey and Roddy.

New England vs Buffalo

Bleacher Report: New England 21 Buffalo 24
Vegas: Buffalo 24 New England 21
Me: Buffalo 23 New England 20

Buffalo Bills
QB: Kyle Orton
RB: Fred Jackson, CJ Spiller
WR: Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Mike Williams
QB: Tom Brady
RB: Shane Vereen, Steven Ridley
WR: Julian Edelman, Aaron Dobson, Brandon Lafell
-- Both teams are just kind of average. Flip a coin to find the winner. The offense is really spread out so I have no clue who will be best haha. Both teams will rush more than pass (attempts). More Passing Yards than Rushing yards.

Carolina vs Cincinnati

Bleacher Report: Cincinnati 31 Carolina 21
Vegas: Cincinnati 25 Carolina 18
Me: Carolina 17 Cincinnati 13

Cincinnati Bengals
QB: Andy Dalton
RB: Giovanni Bernard
WR: Muhammud Sanu
Carolina Panthers
QB: Cam Newton
RB: Darrin Reeves, Jonathan Stewart*
WR: Kelvin Benjamin

-- I think this will be a big defensive game. No AJ Green for the Bengals (or my fantasy team). I think both teams will have more rush attempts and more pass yards. Giovanni Bernard will be the best running back to choose. Muhammud Sanu might be okay, but I'd take Kelvin Benjamin first.

Pittsburgh vs Cleveland

Bleacher Reprot: Browns 17 Steelers 14
Vegas: Browns 24 Steelers 24 (They think it will be a "coin flip" game"
Me: Browns 37 Steelers 31

Cleveland Browns
QB: Brain Hoyer, Jonny Manziel
RB: Ben Tate, Terrance West, Isiah Crowell
WR: Miles, Austin, Andrew Hawkins (yards), Travis Benjamin (TDs)
Pittsburgh Steelers
QB: Ben Roelisthberger
RB: Leveon Bell, Legarette Blount
WR: Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton
-- This should be a good game. Browns almost came back to beat the Steelers in the first game. Ben Tate did well then, maybe he'll do well again. Should be lots of good offense. Vegas has this as another coin flip game. I have a feeling about the Browns.

Green Bay vs Miami

Bleacher Report: Green Bay 34 Miami 28
Vegas: GB 26 Miami 23
Me: Green Bay 23 Miami 17

Green Bay Packers
QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Eddie Lacy
WR: Jordy Nelson (yards), Randall Cobb (TDs)

Miami Dolphins
QB: Ryan Tannehill
RB: Lamar Miller, Knowshon Moreno*
WR: Mike Wallace
-- I think this game will be close. Green Bay doesn't play as well on the road and Miami is coming off a bye week. Both teams should rush more and have more passing yards. I like the Dolphins running backs too, just don't know which one. Moreno broke his elbow 4 weeks ago, but he's coming back, so we will see how that affects him.

Detroit vs Minnesota

Bleacher Report: Minnesota 20 Detroit 17
Vegas: Minnesota 23 Detroit 21
Me: Detroit 24 Minnesota 17

Detroit Lions
QB: Matthew Stafford
RB: Joquie Bell, Theo Riddick, George Wynn
WR: Golden Tate,
Minnesota Vikings
QB: Teddy Bridgewater
RB: Matt Asiata
WR: Cordelle Patterson, Greg Jennings
--Lions are missing both Calving Johnson and Reggie Bush. I still think they win after being embarrassed last week. Lions will pass more than rush (attempts) and have more passing yards. Golden Tate should be good. Vikings should rush more than pass.

Denver vs NY Jets

Bleacher Report: Denver 38 NY Jets 10
Vegas: Denver 29 NY Jets 20
Me: Denver 45 NY Jets 13

Denver Broncos
QB: Peyton Manning
RB: Ronnie Hillman, CJ Anderson, Juwan Thompson
WR: Demaryius Thomas, Emmaunel Sanders, Wes Welker

NY Jets
QB: Geno Smith, Michael Vick
RB: Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson
WR: Eric Decker, Jeremy Kelley

-- Jets are bad, Broncos are good.... simple haha. Don't know who the rusher will be for the Broncos but Montee Ball is out. I like ALL the Denver WRs more than Eric Decker, but I think Decker will score at least once, just don't know when. Denver will pass more than rush (in the first 3 quarters) and they will have more pass yards than rush. Jets will have to do more passing than rushing.

Jacksonville vs Tennessee

BR: Tennessee 24 Jacksonville 13
Vegas: Tennessee 23 Jacksonville 19
Me: Tennessee 30 Jacksonville 20
Tennessee Titans
QB: Charlie Whitehurst
RB: Bishop Sankey
WR: Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter

Jacksonville Jaguars
QB: Blake Bortles
RB: Storm Johnson
WR: Cecil Shorts, Marquise Lee, Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns
--Both teams? Bad, very bad. I think Sankey has a chance to be good...everyone else is a coin flip. They should both rush more than pass and have more passing yards than rushing yards.

Baltimore vs Tampa Bay

BR: Baltimore 27 Tampa Bay 21
Vegas: Balt 23 TB 20
Me: Balt 27 TB 24

Baltimore Ravens
QB: Joe Flacco
RB: Justin Forsett, Bernard Pierce*, Lorenzo Taliaferro
WR: Steve Smith, Torry Smith

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
QB: Mike Glennon
RB: Doug Martin, Bobby Rainey
WR: Vincent Jackson

-- I think both Steve Smith and Vincent Jackson score. Flacco is better than Glennon. Both teams will rush more than pass, but have more Passing Yards than Rushing Yards

Indianapolis vs Houston

Bleacher Report: Indianapolis 31 Houston 20
Vegas: Indianapolis 24 Houston 21
Me: Indianpolis 17 Houston 13

Indianapolis Colts
QB: Andrew Luck
RB: Ahmad Bradshaw, Trent Richardson
WR: TY HiltonReggie Wayne, Hakeen Nicks

Houston Texans:
QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick
RB: Arian Foster*, Alfred Blue
WR: Deandre Hopkins, Andre Johnson
Kicker: Randy Bullock

-- Thursday games are weird. We haven't had a "great" game yet, but this could be one because both games are 3-2, going for the division lead. I am going to guess it will be a stinker. Luck is the one of the best QBs in the game. Colts throw and run about the same (attempts). I think the Colts will have more PASSING yards. The Texans rush more than pass (attempts). Yards could be even though. RBs: Foster, Bradshaw, Richardson. WRs: Hilton, Hopkins, Wayne, Johnson.

NFL Vigoal/MyGuy Week 5

So injured that it may affect their ability and they might not play the whole game.

Washington vs Seattle

BR: Seattle 31 Washington 21
Vegas: Seattle 26 Washington 19
Me: Seattle 24 Washington 20

Seattle Seahawks
QB: Russel Wilson
RB: Marshawn Lynch
WR: Percy Harvin, Doug Baldwin
Washington Redskins
QB: Kirk Cousins
RB: Alfred Morris
WR: Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson
-- So Washington got TROUNCED last game.... Seattle has an amazing defense. But you know what? I'm like 50/50 in picking the Washington Professional Football Team over the Seattle Seahawks tonight. Why? Because, for some reason, prime time games tend to be different than what we expect most times. (i.e New England last night, Kansas City last Monday) I don't have the courage to pick Washington, but I will say that it will be closer than people think. (Now watch Seattle win 45-0). But Sticking to my guns. I like Wilson, a little better than Cousins. Lynch better than Morris. Garcon, Harvin, Jackson in that order. Both teams will probably Rush more than pass (attempts). Seattle I can see rack up more Rush Yards than Pass Yards some quarters. Washington will probably get more Pass yards than Rush yards most of the game. But if you're feeling lucky..... Washington.

Cincinnati vs New England

BR: Cincinnati 28 New England 16
Vegas: Cincy 23 New England 23 (Vegas thinks the game will be very close)
Me: New England 24 Cincinnati 23

Cincinnati Bengals
QB: Andy Dalton
RB: Giovanni Bernard
WR: AJ Green, Muhammud Sanu
New England Patriots
QB: Tom Brady
RB: Shane Vereen, Steven Ridley
WR: Julian Edelman, Aaron Dobson, Brandon Lafell

-- Patriots looked awful last week...so that's why I think they'll win this week. Can't hold Coach Bill and Tom Terrific down too long. I like Dalton better than Brady. I don't like any Patriot for rushing. And Green is better than Edelman. Both teams with more rushing attempts and more passing yards.

Arizona vs Denver

BR: Denver 23 Arizona 17
Vegas: Denver 27 Arizona 21
Me: Denver 34 Arizona 24

Denver Broncos
QB: Peyton Manning
RB: Montee Ball
WR: Demaryius Thomas, Emmaunel Sanders, Wes Welker
Arizona Cardinals
QB: Drew Stanton
RB: Andre Ellington
WR: Michael Floyd, Larry Fitzgerlad

-- Both teams coming off byes. I think both teams will pass more than rush.

NY Jets vs San Diego

BR: SD 27 NYJ 17
Vegas: San Diego 25 NY Jets 19
Me: SD 27 NYJ 20

NY Jets
QB: Geno Smith, Michael Vick
RB: Chris Ivory, Chris Johnson
WR: Jeremy Kerley
San Diego Chargers
QB: Philip Rivers
RB: Donald Brown
WR: Keenen Allen, Malcom Floyd, Eddie Royal

-- Geno Smith may not play the whole game. San Diego Chargers should pass more and get more passing yards. Jets will rush more, and go more rushing yards.

Kansas City vs San Francisco

BR: San Fran 24 KC 13
Vegas: SF 24 KC 20
Me: KC 27 SF 21

Kansas City Chiefs
QB: Alex Smith
RB: Jamaal Charles, Kniles Davis
WR: Dwayne Bowe
San Francisco 49ers
QB: Colin Kaepernick
RB: Frank Gore, Carlos Hyde
WR: Michael Crabtree, Anquan Boldin, Stevie Johnson

-- This will be a good game... I'm going with my gut and picking the Chiefs to win. I think both teams will do a lot of rushing. I like Alex Smith better than Kaepernick and Charles better than Gore. I like Crabtree, Bowe, Boldin, in that order.

Chicago vs Carolina

Bleacher Report: Chicago 23 Carolina 20
Vegas: Carolina 24 Chicago 21
Me: Carolina 34 Chicago 24

Chicago
QB: Jay Cutler
RB: Matt Forte
WR: Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey
Carolina
QB: Cam Newton
RB: Darrin Reeves
WR: Kelvin Benjamin
-- These defenses are not very impressive. I expect a high scoring game. Both teams try to RUSH (attempts) more than pass, but I expect more PASSING YARDS than rushing yards. I like Cam a little better than Cutler. Matt Forte should be the better running back. I like Marshall, Benjamin than Jeffrey for WR questions.

Baltimore vs Indianapolis

BR: Baltimore 30 Indianopolis 27
Vegas: Baltimore 23 Indianpolis 26
Me: Balt 24 Indianapolis 30

Baltimore Ravens
QB: Joe Flacco
RB: Justin Forsett, Bernard Pierce*, Lorenzo Taliaferro
WR: Steve Smith, Torry Smith
Indianapolis Colts
QB: Andrew Luck
RB: Ahmad Bradshaw, Trent Richardson
WR: Reggie Wayne, TY Hilton, Hakeen Nicks
-- Baltimore Rushes more than Passes (attempts), Colts Pass more. Both should get more PASSING yards. I like Luck better than Flacco. Don't like any of the Ravens Running backs, and I like Steve Smith better than Reggie Wayne.

Houston vs Dallas

BR: Dallas 24 Houston 20
Vegas: Dallas 27 Houston 20
Me: Dallas 30 Houston 24

Houston Texans:
QB: Ryan Fitzpatrick
RB: Arian Foster*, Alfred Blue
WR: Deandre Hopkins, Andre Johnson
Dallas Cowboys:
QB: Tony Romo
RB: Demarco Murray
WR: Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams
-- Foster might be hurt. Both teams rush more than pass (attempts). I expect the yardage to be even. Murray is better than Foster, Dez better than Hopkins.

Buffalo vs Detroit

BR: Detroit 24 Buffalo 6
Vegas: Detroit 25 Buffalo 18
Me: Detroit 23 Buffalo 10

Buffalo Bills
QB: Kyle Orton
RB: Fred Jackson, CJ Spiller
WR: Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Mike Williams
Detroit Lions
QB: Matthew Stafford
RB: Reggie Bush, George Wynn
WR: Calvin Johnson*, Golden Tate
-- These two defenses are pretty good. I don't expect much offense. More rushing attempts, more passing yards for Lions. More rush attempts and yards for the Bills. If Calvin Johnson is really hurt go with Golden Tate. Stafford over Orton.

Pittsburgh vs Jacksonville

BR: Pittsburgh 37 Jacksonville 17
Vegas: Pitt 26 Jax 20
Me: Pitt 30 Jacksonville 20

Pittsburgh Steelers
QB: Ben Roelisthberger
RB: Leveon Bell, Legarette Blount
WR: Antonio Brown, Markus Wheaton
Jacksonville Jaguars
QB: Blake Bortles
RB: Toby Gerhart
WR: Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns
-- Jacksonville is a bad team. Steelers should win easily (even though their defense is not good). Choose more rush attempts and pass yards for both teams.

Tampa Bay vs New Orleans

BR: New Orleans 38 Tampa Bay 13
Vegas New Orleans 29 Tampa Bay 19
Me: NO 31 TB 13

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
QB: Mike Glennon
RB: Doug Martin, Bobby Rainey
WR: Vincent Jackson
New Orleans Saints
QB: Drew Brees
RB: Khiry Robinson, Pierre Thomas
WR: Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks
-- Both defenses are bad. Drew Brees and the Saints offense should be good because they are at home. Bucs will run the ball more than pass (attempts). Saints pick more pass attempts and pass yards.

Atlanta vs NY Giants

BR: Atlanta 28 Giants 20
Vegas: Atlanta 23 Giants 27
Me: Atlanta 24 Giants 31

Atlanta Falcons
QB: Matt Ryan
RB: Steven Jackson, Antoine Smith
WR: Julio Jones, Roddy White
NY Giants
QB: Eli Manning
RB: Rashad Jennings
WR: Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle

-- I hate picking the Giants to win. I think the Giants will try to run the ball more. Both teams pass for a bunch of yards. Giants will run more than the Falcons.

Cleveland vs Tennessee

BR: Cleveland 26 Tennessee 17
Vegas: Cleveland 22 Tennessee 23
Me: Cleveland 24 Tennessee 21

Cleveland Browns
QB: Brain Hoyer, Jonny Manziel
RB: Ben Tate, Terrance West, Isiah Crowell
WR: Andrew Hawkins (yards)
Tennessee Titans
QB: Jake Locker
RB: Shone Green, Bishop Sankey?
WR: Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter

-- Wow..... NONE of these offensive guys are that great. Bishop Sankey if he gets the playing time will be good. Ben Tate is a little hurt but he might be good too. Both teams, choose Rushing Attempts and Passing Yards. I think Locker is barely better than Hoyer.....

St. Louis vs Philadelphia

BR: Philadelphia 31 St. Louis 23
Vegas: St Louis 21 Philadelphia 27
Me: Philly 30 STL 21

St. Louis Rams
QB: Austin Davis, Shaun Hill
RB: Zac Stacy, Benjamin Cunningham
WR: Brian Quick, Tavon Austin
Philadelphia Eagles
QB: Nick Foles
RB: Lesean McCoy, Darrin Sproles
WR: Jeremy Maclin, Jordan Matthes

-- The Eagles should win... I think. St. Louis isn't awful, they're just not good. I would choose both teams Passing Attemps and Passing Yards. I Like Mccoy, Stacy, Sproles to begin with in rushing categories. Maclin, Quick than Matthews for receiving categories.

Minnesota vs Green Bay
Bleacher Report: Green Bay 34 Vikings 13
Vegas: GB 28 Minn 19
Me: Packers 35 Vikings 16

Minnesota
QB: Christian Ponder, Teddy Bridgewater* (IS OUT for the game)
RB: Matt Asiata
WR: Cordelle Patterson, Greg Jennings
Packers
QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Eddie Lacy
WR: Jordy Nelson (yards), Randall Cobb (TDs)

-- Thursday games are kind of icky. I expect both teams to do better at running than passing. However, the Packers are a PASS HEAVY team. I expect the Packers to do very well against this team. I know I picked against the Vikings last week, but the Packers are at home and they are VERY good offensively. Which is why the Pack are all bolded.

RokPapierSkissors League "The Chaos Tournament: The Electric Boogaloo"

When one thing ends, there is an opportunity for something new to start. With our first Chaos Tournament in the books (Congrats to inaugural champion Stonewall Mikayla), it is time to set our sights on the sequel: Chaos Part Deux.

However, every new beginning comes from some other's beginning's end  ~Third Eye Blind. Grant-Land will be withdrawing from this tournament. He needs to focus on family and get himself right with meditation. That opens the door for a newcomer; the French Dominator (or French Toaster...still working on nicknames) Coraline will be joining the RokPapierSkissors League. She's a heavy hitter and a force to be reckoned with. She has multiple tournament wins from previous tournaments and has even tasted championship gold. Some may say she's too good to play with us, others will think we have a new benchmark to aspire to. Coraline will also up the trash talk game to new heights.

Who will be our next Champion?

We are expanding our tournament field from 12 to 14. We are also adding the Power Couple of Purch, Neil and Kami Essig. Not much is known about these two competitors, but if we learned anything about the Chaos tournament, it's the unknowns can be the most dangerous.

We will NOT be going off the previous tournament's result, we will Power Rank everyone again. First off, it's not fair to the newcomers to go off the previous result, but more so, the Power Rank motivates everyone to prove their ranking wrong or right. Nothing like peer pressure to get the juices flowing! ANOTHER new wrinkle, we will have more than just the players rank. A committee of outside ping pong players will also be ranking.

Good luck, and may the pong be ever in your favor.

Chaos Part Deux (Nicknames are a work in progress.....eh, screw it, this is what I'm calling you from now on.)
