MyGuy Miyagi: Memorial Day Heat 5/26/14

First off, Happy Memorial Day. If you have the day off and are enjoying with friends and family, take a moment to think about the brave men and women who made it possible for me to sit around and watch basketball today. My uncle was a retired vet and he taught me many things growing up. I wouldn't be half the man I am today if it wasn't for him and I'm glad we have days like today so we can remember to honor our heroes.

Now to the the MyGuy stuff:  New to MyGuy? Check out our tips and guideline section Here.

My twitter is @HuuMyGuy. I will tweet out who I have in at the start of quarters, if any of the main stars go to the bench and if I make changes during the game. I also have this chat room for us to converse about the game in. I may have plans tonight so I won't be in the chat room. I will try to tweet as much as possible. Sorry everyone. I will try and get done ASAP to meet up during the game.

Happy Memorial Day, everyone!

Protect Your Points Player (When you hit 150 in a quarter): Bynum (Pacers)  What is the PYP Player?

Basketball is a game of runs. Teams will go on runs and outscore their opponents for stretches at a time.  That's what happened to the Heat in the first quarter. The Pacers went on a run and took a HUGE lead on the Heat. Lebron James was bad for that quarter. Like reallllly bad, and in turn, the Heat were also bad. But the Heat came back to win, and James played MUCH better. If you could get the first quarter taste out of your mouth, James scored almost +750 by himself the next 3 quarters. Each quarter is a new game and a chance for redemption, and we stick with guys like James because he has history of being good 95% of the time.... every once in a while we will get stuck with a goose egg on that 5%

Tier 1- Lebron James (My Pick).
He is consistently the best player in most situations.

Tier 2- Chris Bosh, Paul George, Lance Stephenson, Good Hibbert, Dwyane Wade

My Tier 2 SECOND QUARTER Pick: Stephenson

  • Stephenson- Had ANOTHER great spurt. Three games he's scored 150 by himself. The trick is, when will it happen. In Games 1 and 3, it was at the START of the 2nd quarter for about 6 minutes. The biggest reason why is at that point, he's the best Pacer on the floor. The rest of the starters are on the bench (and some combination of James/Wade/Bosh are usually on the bench as well). It's easier for him to grab points when guys like George, West and Hibbert aren't in. And he doesn't have to guard James or Wade on the other end. In Game 3, he had a monster 2nd quarter and he just did okay the rest of the game. He wasn't bad. But you would have scored more with James. Keep in mind the personnel when these guys go on runs.
  • Bosh- Uh...stay away until he actually does something.
  • Good Hibbert- He's been okay, nothing spectacular but steady enough.
  • Wade- Wade has hit some shots in the 2nd and especially 4th quarters. He's not getting tons of rebounds, assists and steals, but he hasn't been bad. I like James because he just does more right now.
